Welcome to Flotilla 10-03

We thank you for visiting our Flotilla website. We are part of the United Coast Guard Auxiliary. As part of Team Coast Guard, Flotilla 10-03 serves  Lake Ray Roberts near Sanger, Texas.

Recently, a member from Flotilla 10-03 of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary discovered two water-logged canoe enthusiasts bobbing up and down in two –four foot waves at Lake Ray Roberts near Sanger, Texas. The water temperature was near 70 degrees and all they were wearing were their swimsuits and lifejackets.

They were clinging to their oars after their canoe capsized because of the rough seas… and they were a long way from shore. When the Auxiliary member found them, their canoe was nowhere in sight.

He helped them board his boat and gave them towels and blankets to warm them while he shuttled them safely to the marina.

These people were fortunate… they were wearing their lifejackets.

The U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary reminds boaters to ALWAYS wear their lifejackets and to ensure that all required safety equipment is onboard their vessel and in good, working order.

What is the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary?

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (USCGAUX) is the civilian volunteer arm of the U.S. Coast Guard. It was created by Congress in 1939 to provide non-military support to the Coast Guard.

Who are we?

We're folks just like you. In fact, we may be your neighbors. We're 30,000+ men and women who are proud to wear the Auxiliary uniform and receive awards and prestigious recognition for our valuable, dedicated service.

What we do...

Auxiliarists are probably best known for educating the public through their Boating Safety Classes and Vessel Safety Checks. Yet, we do so much more, and our responsibilities continue to grow since passage of the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 1996.

The Authorization Act assigns the Auxiliary the role of assisting the Coast Guard in performance of any Coast Guard function, duty, role, mission, or operation authorized by law, except law enforcement duties and war.

Auxiliarists also have opportunities to serve side-by-side with active duty members of the Coast Guard team at their stations and in times of disaster.

Each year Coast Guard Auxiliarists...

• Save over 500 lives

• Operate over 2,300 radio stations

• Assist over 15,000 boaters in distress

• Educate over 500,000 people in (2,000+ cities) in boating and water safety courses

• Perform more than 150,000 free vessel safety checks on recreational vessels

• Train 45,000 hours to develop and fine tune our skills

• Save taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars every year through our efforts

To join the US Coast Guard Auxiliary you must be 17 years of age or older and a United States Citizen. Ownership of a boat or a radio station is desirable, but not mandatory.
